The AMPTEC 630BN Multipurpose Igniter Tester / Ruggedized Explosive Safety Meter

The AMPTEC 630BN Igniter Tester is approved for use on US NAVY TOMAHAWK Cruise Missile and STANDARD Missile squibs by the NAVAL ORDINANCE CENTER.  Designed for military ordinance programs as a ruggedized Igniter Tester, the AMPEC 630BN features: a completely water-resistant main operation panel, self-contained DC ammerter and test resistors (to verify 630BN test current levels are safe and resistance ranges accurate), a notched limited access external connection port (see impossible to connect Charger when Measuring discussion below), wide viewing angle (tilted) ergonomic display - readable in direct sunlight, shielded Faraday cage for EMP protection, Electro Static Discharge (ESD) prevention, noise immunity, and more...

Measure on the Go - Sunshine or in the Rain

The AMPTEC RESEARCH 630BN Igniter Tester is designed for use in harsh environments, on the go “mobile” take it anywhere use, and general purpose lab test bench use on a variety of ordnance. Not only representing the latest in ultra-safe resistance testing on explosive devices (i.e. squibs, igniters, flares, detonators) the AMPTEC 630BN internal packaging and impact resistant case is also constructed to a water tight standard. The polypropylene case is water proof when closed (and purge valve is shut) to a depth of 3 feet. It also floats in water and can be operated outside in direct rain, as it has silicon boot seals over all switches.

The waterproof overlay covers a uni body aluminum front plate mounted on a water-resistant compressed o-ring in bezel construction. The SuperBright LEDs are 5 times brighter (25,000 lumens) that normal “high intensity” LEDs. The 630BN display is readable in direct sunlight.  It comes self-contained with a slim-line AC/DC Battery Charger and measurement test leads ready to use or recharge between or after testing is completed.

Impossible to Connect Charger when Measuring

The notched limited access (one use at a time) external connection port on the 630BN makes it physically impossible to simultaneously connect the AC/DC Charger while measuring with the test leads.  Whether charging the Ni-CAD batteries or measuring a squib’s resistance there is only one connection port, it's a case of "either/or" but never both. The 630BN operator can either connect the AC/DC Battery Charger to the notched 630 limited access connection port for recharging the Ni-Cad Batteries, where upon the AC/CD Battery Charger plug connection mechanically blocks the limited access connection port fromusing the measuring sense leads.  In order to measure, the Battery Charger plug must be removed, thus providing physical/mechanical access for the test leads to connect to the 630BN (see photo above) limited access connection port.
