Over the past 38 years our experienced product engineers and design staff have designed, manufactured and supplied earlier versions similar to the AMPTEC 620 series and 630 Series Igniter Testers to the U.S. NAVY for the “SUBMARINE LAUNCHED TOMAHAWK CRUISE MISSILE”, the U.S. ARMY for the “STANDARD MISSILE”, the U.S.A.F. (see below for partial listing) to name a few.

     The AMPTEC 620A-4 Igniter Tester is presently the only Munition Safety Board Approved model to replace the aging USAF inventory of older model Igniter Testers.  It is USAF Safety Board Approved for use on AIM-9 Sidewinder Missile Warhead  Squibs, AIM-7 Sparrow Missile Warhead and rocket motor squib, AIM-120 AMRAAM, AGM-65 Mavericks and AGM-85 Maverick squibs, C-130 Transport Fire Bottle Squibs and more . . .  We have Safety Approvals for our products from the USAF Non-Nuclear Munition Safety Board, US NAVAL Ordnance Center at Indianhead MD ( Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile squibs), and even have custom designed test sets for U.S. Dept. of Energy Nuclear Explosive Safety (NES) Committee.

Internationally, we manufacture the leading "EeX" Certified Intrinsically Safe Ohmmeter (620UK Explosive Safety Ohmmeter) for Explosive and Volatile Atmospheres including MIL SDT 810 Method 511 rev F up to +50°C. We also have unlisted models you may be inquirying about with pending Safety Approvals that are not shown in this website.

     All of AMPTEC RESEARCH's electronics technician's and test personnel are also certified to the NASA QUALITY MIL STD 8739.3 for HANDSOLDERING AND WORKMANSHIP.  A copy of our NASA Certification for Quality Soldering and Workmanship is available upon request.  AMPTEC RESEARCH manufacturers it's instrumentation (i.e. AMPTEC 620UK Explosive Safety Ohmmeter) using the ISO 9001 Quality standard.

Host of Options for our products

We have introduced a Host of Options for our products (all AMPTEC 620, 630, 640 Igniter Testers, M590 (Squib & Primer) Fire and Test Sets and AMPTEC 720A series Micro-Ohmmeters) including: Optically Isolated RS232C communication for our Explosive Safety Igniter Testers, BCD Outputs, LCD Displays (saves battery power), AC-DC RMS Voltage measurement, Auto-ranging capability, Isolated Analog Outputs (i.e. 1.2345VDC = 1.2345 Ohms), Continuous Isolated Operating Power capability ( since battery powered units eventually need to be charged ), Gold Plated 4 wire Kelvin Test Probes, Test Leads, and Rack Mount Adapters.

We design custom volt-ohmmeter instrumentation exact to our customers requirements on time, and under budget. The photo above is one of the IDS 653J ( it is AMPTEC RESEARCH designed and produced exclusively for our customer IDS ( Integrated Defense Solutions ) for use as the Auxillary Fuel Tank Jettison System Test Set on the USAF APACHE MH-53J PAVELOW Helicopter.

The IDS 653J measures firing voltage( 0 to 200 VDC),& measures firing current levels up to 4.999 amperes without tripping the helicopter's electrical systems 5.0 amp circuit brakers. In addition it measures residual or stray voltage levels on related wiring, and connection versus isolation status and more. It was tested and certified to MIL STDS by AMPTEC RESEARCH, including certification with our in-house U.S. N.I.S.T Traceceable Environmental Temperature Chamber  - We can certify any Custom Test Set we design for you in-house from -30°C to +80°C.
